Ingredients
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (For frying or greasing the pan; estimated amount.)
- 1 cup garlic (Chopped or crushed.)
- 3 tbsp butter (For the garlic mixture.)
- 3 green chilies (Chopped; estimated amount.)
- 1 tsp chili flakes (Estimated amount; adjust to taste.)
- 1 tsp dried oregano (Estimated amount.)
- 0.25 cup cilantro leaves (Chopped; estimated amount.)
- 4 pav buns (Each piece halved without separating it completely, if possible.)
- 200 g mozzarella cheese (Grated or cut into strips; estimated amount.)
- 1 tbsp additional butter (For cooking the bread, as needed.)
- 2 tbsp water (To create steam while cooking covered; estimated amount.)
- 1 tsp chili oil (For finishing; estimated amount.)
Steps
- 1
Prepare the ingredients: chop or crush the garlic, chop the green chilies and cilantro, and grate the mozzarella. Open each pav bun in half without separating it completely, if possible.
- 2
Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add the frying oil. Add the garlic and cook gently until fragrant and lightly golden, without letting it burn.
- 3
Add the 3 tbsp of butter to the garlic and stir until completely melted.
- 4
Add the chopped green chilies, chili flakes, oregano, and cilantro. Stir for approximately 1 minute, until the herbs are fragrant.
- 5
Spread the garlic-butter mixture inside each opened pav bun. Fill with the mozzarella, distributing it evenly so that each piece contains cheese.
- 6
Melt the additional butter in a clean skillet or in the same skillet, depending on the available space. Place the buns cut-side up and add the water around them to create steam.
- 7
Drizzle the chili oil over the buns. Cover the skillet and cook over low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, until the mozzarella is completely melted and the bread is hot, with the base lightly golden.
- 8
Carefully uncover the skillet to avoid the steam, remove the buns, and serve hot.
Notes
The ingredient quantities that were not specified in the original post are estimates for 4 buns. Watch the garlic while cooking: it should be fragrant and golden, not dark or bitter.
