Weights are estimates. Together, the ingredients weigh about 220 g before cooking, which is about 110 g per serving.
Steps
Gather and measure all of the ingredients. Have a small saucepan and a utensil ready for stirring.
Add the beef broth, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch to the saucepan.
Stir the mixture thoroughly until it is evenly combined and no lumps of cornstarch remain.
Place the saucepan over heat and bring the sauce to a boil, stirring continuously so the cornstarch does not settle or form lumps.
Reduce the heat and simmer, continuing to stir, until the sauce reaches your desired thickness. Use it with a stir-fry or chow mein dish.
Notes
For a chicken-broth version, substitute chicken broth for the beef broth. For additional flavor, add 1 grated garlic clove; grated or minced ginger may also be added. To reduce sodium, use low-sodium beef broth and soy sauce. The sauce can be served with beef, chicken, or pork stir-fry.
