Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 0.5 cup maple syrup (can substitute with another 1/2 cup brown sugar)
- 1 cup plain pumpkin puree
- 2 cup water (use 1 cup for a thicker sauce consistency)
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- salt (a pinch)
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste (add after removing from heat)
Steps
- 1
In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, maple syrup, pumpkin puree, water, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- 2
Place the saucepan over low heat and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 3
Simmer on low for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure the sugar is dissolved and the pumpkin is well incorporated.
- 4
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla bean paste.
- 5
Allow the syrup to cool slightly before pouring into your favorite jars or airtight containers.
Notes
Store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Be sure to shake or stir the container before each use as the pumpkin puree may settle.
