Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef mince (lean)
  • 800 g crushed tomatoes (2 cans)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 onion (finely diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 0.5 cup beef stock
  • parmesan cheese (for serving)
  • fresh herbs (for serving)

Steps

    Place the raw beef mince, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, diced onion, minced garlic, dried oregano, and dried basil into the slow cooker.

    Pour in the beef stock and stir the mixture until the ingredients are well combined and the mince is broken up.

    Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or on High for 3-4 hours until the sauce is rich and thickened.

    Stir the sauce thoroughly before serving to ensure the meat is fully incorporated.

    Serve over broken lasagna sheets or your favorite pasta, finished with grated parmesan and fresh herbs.

Notes

This is a freezer-friendly recipe. It works exceptionally well as a base for pasta bakes. No browning of the meat is required before adding to the slow cooker.
