Ingredients
- 3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 0.333 cup melted butter or oil (Use melted butter or oil.)
- 1 cup warm water
Steps
- 1
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- 2
Mix in the melted butter or oil until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3
Pour in the warm water and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- 4
Knead the dough for 3–5 minutes, until it is smooth and soft.
- 5
Cover the dough and let it rest for 30–60 minutes. This helps create a very soft tortilla.
- 6
Divide the dough into 10–12 equal balls.
- 7
Cover the dough balls and let them rest for another 15 minutes; this helps the dough roll more easily.
- 8
Roll each ball into a very thin circle.
- 9
Heat a skillet or griddle until hot, keeping it dry. Cook each tortilla for 30–45 seconds per side, until light brown spots appear.
- 10
Immediately place the cooked tortillas in a towel-lined container and cover them to steam.
Notes
