Ingredients
- 12 oz milk chocolate (chips or finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp heavy cream (room temperature recommended to prevent seizing)
- 0.25 cup caramel ice cream topping
- 1 tbsp rum (for flambéing)
- 3 tbsp pecans (chopped)
Steps
- 1
Melt the 12 ounces of milk chocolate and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream together. You can use a double boiler over simmering water, mixing until creamy, or use a microwaveable bowl, heating in 15-second intervals and stirring frequently until melted and smooth.
- 2
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into a warm fondue pot.
- 3
Pour 1/4 cup of caramel ice cream topping into the center of the chocolate mixture. Do not stir it in.
- 4
Add 1 tablespoon of rum to the pot and carefully ignite it using a long lighter or match.
- 5
Allow the flame to burn out naturally, then stir gently to combine the ingredients.
- 6
Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of chopped pecans over the top.
- 7
Keep the fondue warm over low heat and serve with dippers like marshmallows, strawberries, or cookies.
Notes
To prevent the chocolate from seizing, ensure the heavy cream is not cold when added to hot chocolate; melting them together is the safest method. If the chocolate does harden, some users suggest adding a teaspoon of vegetable oil or additional warm cream to smooth it out. Suggested dippers include marshmallows, strawberries, cookies, and various fruits or candies.
