Ingredients

  • 0.5 lb cabbage (washed and finely sliced)
  • 0.25 cup onion (thinly sliced)
  • 0.5 cup carrot (sliced into matchsticks)
  • 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red chili flakes)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Steps

  1. 1

Finely slice the washed cabbage into thin shreds.

  2. 2

Thinly slice a small amount of onion.

  3. 3

Slice the carrot into thin matchsticks.

  4. 4

Thinly slice 1 to 2 green onions.

  5. 5

In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of gochugaru, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds.

  6. 6

Mix the dressing ingredients well until the sugar is dissolved.

  7. 7

Place the sliced cabbage, onion, carrot, and green onions into a large mixing bowl.

  8. 8

Pour the dressing over the vegetables and toss thoroughly to coat everything evenly.

Notes

This salad is best served fresh to maintain the crunch of the vegetables. If you prefer a vegetarian version, substitute the fish sauce with additional soy sauce or a vegan fish sauce alternative.
