Ingredients

  • 2 lb chicken (preferred cut, such as thighs or breasts)
  • 0.5 tsp salt (part of simple seasonings)
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper (part of simple seasonings)
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder (part of simple seasonings)
  • 2 onions (sliced)
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp butter (placed on top)

Steps

  1. 1

Place your preferred cut of chicken into the slow cooker.

  2. 2

Season the chicken with simple seasonings like salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

Add the sliced onions to the slow cooker.

  4. 4

Pour in the chicken broth and beef broth.

  5. 5

Place pats of butter on top of the chicken and onions.

  6. 6

Cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours or on low for 4-6 hours until the chicken is cooked through.

  7. 7

For crispy skin, carefully remove the chicken from the slow cooker and place it under the oven broiler for a few minutes until golden brown.

Notes

You can use any cut of chicken you prefer; bone-in, skin-on thighs work particularly well for the broiler finish. The combination of chicken and beef broth adds a deeper flavor to the sauce.
