Ingredients
Steps
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190 °C) (190°C (375 °F)) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the Pillsbury pizza dough on a flat surface and cut it lengthwise into 3 equal strips.
Distribute the shredded 3-cheese cheddar blend evenly down the center of each of the three dough strips.
Roll each strip tightly lengthwise to enclose the cheese. Pinch the seams and the ends very firmly to ensure the cheese is completely sealed inside.
Shape each dough rope into a U-shape, twist the ends around each other twice, and fold them down onto the bottom of the U to create a traditional pretzel shape.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 teaspoon of water to create an egg wash.
Brush the pretzels generously with the egg wash and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, turning the baking sheet halfway through, until the pretzels are puffed up and a deep golden brown. If they begin browning too quickly or unevenly, cover them loosely with foil.
Allow the pretzels to cool for a few minutes on the pan before serving warm with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Ensure the seams are pinched very tightly, otherwise the cheese will leak out during baking. The author suggests these are similar to mall-style pretzels.
