Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken wings (split into flats and drumettes)
- salt (to taste)
- black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 0.25 cup honey (for the glaze)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (for the glaze)
- 2 tbsp ketchup (for the glaze)
- 2 potatoes (large, cut into fries)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying or roasting)
- 2 cup mixed salad greens
- 0.5 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
- 0.5 cucumber (sliced)
Steps
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a wire rack for the wings.
- 2
Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the wings with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
- 3
Place the wings on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until the skin is crispy and golden.
- 4
While the wings bake, prepare the fries. Peel and cut the potatoes into even strips. Soak them in cold water for 10 minutes, then pat very dry.
- 5
Toss the potato strips with oil and salt. Place them on a separate baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until crispy, or deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.
- 6
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the honey, soy sauce, and ketchup. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens into a sticky glaze.
- 7
Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the oven and toss them in a bowl with the prepared sticky glaze until thoroughly coated.
- 8
Return the glazed wings to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to allow the sauce to caramelize and become tacky.
- 9
Prepare the salad by tossing the mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber in a bowl with your preferred dressing.
- 10
Serve the sticky wings hot alongside the crispy fries and fresh salad.
Notes
For extra crispy wings, add a teaspoon of baking powder to the dry spice rub. Ensure the potatoes are completely dry before cooking to achieve the best fry texture.
