Ingredients

  • 6 Eggs (large, soft-boiled)
  • 1 Red peppers (chopped)
  • 1 Jalapeños (chopped)
  • 2 Scallions (chopped)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (chopped)
  • 0.5 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 0.25 cup Honey
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • Chili oil (for serving)
  • Cooked rice (for serving)

Steps

  1. 1

Cook the eggs in boiling water until they are soft-boiled and jammy inside (typically 6-7 minutes).

  2. 2

Immediately dunk the cooked eggs into ice-cold water to stop the cooking process.

  3. 3

While the eggs are chilling, chop up the red peppers, jalapeños, scallions, and garlic.

  4. 4

    Peel the chilled eggs carefully.

  5. 5

In a large container, combine the peeled eggs with the chopped aromatics (peppers, scallions, garlic), sesame seeds, soy sauce, water, and honey.

  6. 6

Cover and let the eggs marinate in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours to allow the flavors to absorb.

  7. 7

Serve the eggs over rice with a drizzle of the marinade and chili oil.

Notes

The nickname 'Mayak' translates to 'narcotic' or 'drug' because of how addictive these eggs are. Ensure the eggs are fully submerged in the marinade for even coloring and flavor.
