Weights are estimates. Together, the ingredients weigh about 795 g before cooking, which is about 200 g per serving.
Steps
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the frozen dumplings with their flat sides down. Cook until the undersides are golden brown, 1 to 3 minutes.
Transfer the browned dumplings to a plate.
Add the garlic and ginger to the skillet, still over medium-high heat, and stir to coat them in the oil.
Add the chopped kale and a pinch of salt. Stir until the kale is wilted.
Arrange the dumplings on top of the kale.
Partially cover the skillet with a lid or baking sheet.
Pour the water into the skillet, then cover the skillet completely.
Steam until the dumplings are tender and cooked through, 3 to 5 minutes.
Drizzle the dumplings and greens with the soy sauce and rice vinegar.
Serve with additional soy sauce and rice vinegar, along with toasted sesame seeds, cilantro, sliced scallions, chile crisp, or any combination of the optional garnishes.
Notes
For a bigger meal, serve over rice or another grain. The nutrition estimates for the dumplings and optional garnishes vary substantially by dumpling filling, brand, and serving amount.
