Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- salt (to taste)
- black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 0.5 cup cornstarch (for coating)
- 0.25 cup vegetable oil (for shallow frying)
- 0.33 cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 garlic (cloves, minced)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1 green onions (sliced, for garnish)
Steps
- 1
In a large bowl, season the bite-sized chicken pieces with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss well to ensure even coverage.
- 2
Add the cornstarch to the bowl and toss the chicken until every piece is thoroughly and evenly coated.
- 3
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the chicken in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- 4
Fry the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until the exterior is golden brown and crispy and the chicken is cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
- 5
In a small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar to create the sauce.
- 6
Wipe out any excess oil from the skillet, then pour in the sauce mixture. Bring to a simmer over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until it begins to thicken slightly.
- 7
Return the crispy chicken to the skillet and toss quickly to coat every piece in the honey garlic glaze.
- 8
Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
Serve over steamed white rice or with stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal. If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of water to loosen it.
