Ingredients

  • 2.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs (large)
  • 2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is creamy and well combined.

  4. 4

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition.

  5. 5

Gradually beat in the flour mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 6

Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips by hand using a spatula.

  7. 7

Drop the dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  8. 8

Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may still look slightly soft.

  9. 9

Cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For even softer cookies, ensure your butter is truly room temperature before starting. You can also substitute milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks depending on preference.
