Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 0.33 cup beef broth
- 0.25 cup brown sugar
- 0.25 cup teriyaki sauce
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 green onion (stalk, minced)
- 2 tbsp neutral oil
- 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- green onion (for garnish)
- sesame seeds (for garnish)
- white rice (cooked, for serving)
Steps
- 1
In a preheated wok or non-stick skillet, add the neutral oil, minced garlic, minced green onion, and red pepper flakes. Sauté until fragrant.
- 2
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- 3
In a large bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the brown sugar, beef broth, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, corn starch, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and sesame oil. Ensure there are no clumps of corn starch.
- 4
Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked meat. Stir continuously until the sauce darkens and thickens. The sauce is ready when scraping the pan leaves a trail that takes a moment to fill back in.
- 5
Serve the bulgogi over a bed of white rice and garnish with additional green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
Ensure the corn starch is fully dissolved in the sauce mixture before adding it to the pan to prevent lumps. The sauce thickens quickly once it hits the hot pan.
