Ingredients
- 250 g Chicken thighs (boneless, skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 cup White rice (washed and drained)
- 3 Garlic (cloves, minced)
- 1 tsp Ginger (freshly grated or minced)
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
- 1 cup Chicken broth (or water, adjusted to rice cooker line)
- 1 Green onions (stalk, sliced for garnish)
Steps
- 1
Rinse 1 cup of white rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain and add it to the rice cooker pot.
- 2
Add the bite-sized chicken thigh pieces on top of the rice.
- 3
Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot.
- 4
Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil.
- 5
Add the chicken broth (or water). Ensure the liquid level reaches the appropriate 1-cup mark on your rice cooker bowl, or slightly above if you prefer softer rice.
- 6
Close the lid and set the rice cooker to the standard 'White Rice' or 'Cook' setting.
- 7
Once the rice cooker switches to 'Warm', let it sit for 5 minutes. Open the lid and fluff the rice with a paddle, mixing the chicken and seasonings thoroughly.
- 8
Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can sear the chicken in a pan for 2 minutes before adding it to the rice cooker, though it is not necessary for this 'one-pot' method. If using brown rice, increase the liquid and cooking time according to your machine's settings.
