A rich, creamy banana pudding made with instant vanilla pudding, freshly whipped cream, ripe bananas, and Nilla Wafers. The pudding is prepared the day before and chilled again after assembly so the wafers soften and the flavors meld.

Weights are estimates. Together, the ingredients weigh about 2.81 kg before cooking, which is about 235 g per serving.
Steps
Pudding
Make the pudding mixture in a large bowl. Combine the sweetened condensed milk with the ice-cold water and beat for 1 minute.
Add the instant vanilla pudding mix and beat for 1–2 minutes, until the mixture is thoroughly combined and thickened.
Cover the pudding mixture and refrigerate it overnight so it can set.
Whipped Cream
The next day, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, about 5 minutes.
Add the chilled pudding mixture and the vanilla extract to the whipped cream. Mix until evenly combined and creamy.
Prepare the bananas by slicing them, and set aside enough Nilla Wafers to crush for the topping.
Assembly
In a serving dish, arrange one-third of the Nilla Wafers in an even layer.
Add a layer of bananas over the wafers.
Spread one-third of the pudding-and-whipped-cream mixture over the bananas.
Repeat the wafer, banana, and pudding layers two more times.
Crush the reserved Nilla Wafers and scatter the crumbs over the top of the pudding.
Cover the assembled banana pudding and refrigerate for 6–8 hours before serving. The additional chilling allows the wafers to soften; although it can be eaten immediately, the source recommends waiting.
Notes
The source describes roughly 24 hours from beginning to serving: refrigerate the pudding overnight, then refrigerate the assembled dessert for another 6–8 hours. Use a large bowl when mixing the pudding to reduce splashing. The creator recommends being generous with both the wafers and bananas and notes that a family-size box of wafers can be used.
