Creamy Egg White Oats

Creamy Egg White Oats

Recipe by Sarah Mackay @liftwsarah · Instagram

Imported by Blak Rabbit on SeeMeCook

A high-protein oatmeal base made creamy by whisking egg whites into oats while the heat is low. Keep the oats slightly loose before adding the whites, then stop cooking as soon as they are thick and creamy to avoid a scrambled or rubbery texture.

Ingredients

  • 30 g Oats
  • 100 ml Water
  • 200 ml Oat milk
  • Salt (A pinch)
  • 200 g Egg whites
  • 1 tsp Vanilla (Add after cooking; the source does not specify an extract or another form.)
  • 0.125 tsp Pure stevia (Alternative: 20 g sweetener of choice; use one sweetener, not both. Add after cooking.)

Steps

  1. 1

Combine the oats, water, oat milk, and a pinch of salt in a saucepan. Simmer, leaving a little starchy liquid around the oats rather than cooking them completely dry.

  2. 2

Turn the heat right down. While whisking continuously, pour in the egg whites until the mixture is foamy and evenly combined.

  3. 3

Bring the heat back up to medium and whisk until the oats are thick and creamy.

  4. 4

Take the pan off the heat as soon as the oats are thick and creamy; avoid cooking them longer.

  5. 5

Stir in the vanilla and stevia (or the alternative sweetener of choice), then add toppings as desired. The source does not specify particular toppings.

Notes

The base is described as providing about 30 g protein without protein powder. No specific topping or cooking time is provided; the cooking time here is an estimate.
