Ingredients
- 8 oz chicken breast (skinless, boneless, raw)
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine (for poaching liquid)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 0.5 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 green onion (thinly sliced)
- 0.5 tbsp garlic (minced)
- 0.5 tbsp chili oil
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 4 tbsp chicken bone broth
- 1 tsp ground Sichuan peppercorns
Steps
- 1
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the Shaoxing wine.
- 2
Add the raw chicken breast to the boiling water. Reduce heat to low and boil for 5 minutes.
- 3
Turn off the heat entirely and let the chicken sit in the hot water for 15-20 minutes until it is fully cooked through and tender.
- 4
While the chicken is poaching, thinly slice the green onion.
- 5
In a small mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sliced green onion, minced garlic, chili oil, sesame seeds, chicken bone broth, and ground Sichuan peppercorns. Whisk together until well combined.
- 6
Remove the chicken from the water and cut it into strips.
- 7
Arrange the chicken strips on a plate, pour the prepared sauce over the top, and serve.
Notes
Poaching the chicken on low heat and letting it rest in the hot water ensures it stays juicy rather than becoming dry and rubbery. This recipe is optimized for weight loss with high protein and low carbohydrates.
