Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu (Drain and press.)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp nutritional yeast
- 1.5 tsp kala namak (black salt)
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 0.75 tsp garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
Steps
- 1
Drain and press the tofu block.
- 2
In a small bowl, combine the nutritional yeast, kala namak, turmeric, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper to make the scramble seasoning.
- 3
Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet or pan over medium-low heat.
- 4
Crumble the tofu carefully into the pan. Use a rubber spatula to break it up further until it has a scrambled-egg-like texture; a potato masher can also help.
- 5
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the tofu scramble seasoning over the tofu. Stir to coat it completely, then cook for about 7–10 minutes, stirring often.
- 6
Sprinkle another ½ tablespoon of seasoning over the tofu and stir to coat. Cook for another minute or two.
- 7
Remove the scramble from the heat and taste it. If you want more flavor, stir in another ½ tablespoon of seasoning before serving.
Notes
The seasoning blend is made from the listed seasoning ingredients; the method uses 1 tablespoon, then ½ tablespoon, with an optional additional ½ tablespoon. The source does not specify what to do with any leftover seasoning. For a drier texture, the body text suggests cooking the scramble longer until it reaches the desired consistency.
