Ingredients
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (placed at the bottom of the crockpot)
- 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin removed)
- onion powder (to taste)
- garlic powder (to taste)
- paprika (to taste)
- meat tenderizer seasoning (like a seasoning salt, to taste)
- black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tsp chicken bouillon (mixed with water)
- 0.5 cup water (used to dissolve bouillon)
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter (sliced into pats)
Steps
- 1
Spread approximately 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour in an even layer across the bottom of your crockpot.
- 2
Remove the skin from the bone-in chicken thighs and place them in the crockpot on top of the flour layer.
- 3
Season the chicken generously to your liking with onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, meat tenderizer (seasoning salt), and black pepper.
- 4
Dissolve the chicken bouillon in water to create a quick broth. Pour about 1/2 cup of this liquid into the crockpot around the chicken.
- 5
Place 5 to 6 tablespoons of butter (cut into pats) over the top of the seasoned chicken.
- 6
Cover the crockpot and cook on high for 4 hours until the chicken is tender and falling off the bone.
- 7
Serve the chicken over rice or mashed potatoes, spooning the resulting gravy from the bottom of the pot over the top.
Notes
The flour at the bottom of the crockpot combines with the chicken juices and butter to create a built-in gravy. You can substitute the bouillon and water for 1/2 cup of pre-made chicken broth.
