Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (browned and drained)
- 1 bell pepper (chopped)
- 0.5 onion (chopped)
- seasoning (to taste (typically salt, pepper, garlic powder))
- 24 oz tomato sauce (homemade or jarred marinara)
- 1 lb spaghetti (cooked according to package directions)
- 15 oz alfredo sauce (homemade or jarred)
- 2 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded yourself for better melting)
- 0.25 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
- dried parsley (for garnish)
Steps
- 1
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped bell pepper and chopped onion.
- 2
Season the meat and vegetable mixture with your preferred seasonings, then drain off the excess fat.
- 3
Add the tomato sauce to the skillet with the meat. Stir to combine and let it simmer together for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
- 4
In a separate bowl, mix the cooked spaghetti with the alfredo sauce until the pasta is thoroughly coated.
- 5
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Transfer the alfredo-coated spaghetti into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread it out so it is flat and even.
- 7
Pour the ground beef and tomato sauce mixture directly over the top of the spaghetti layer. Spread it evenly to the edges.
- 8
Sprinkle the top generously with the shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- 9
Place the dish in the oven and bake until the cheese is completely melted and the sides are hot and bubbly, approximately 20-25 minutes.
- 10
Remove from the oven and garnish with a little dried parsley.
- 11
Let the dish cool slightly for a few minutes before serving to allow the layers to set.
Notes
The author strongly recommends shredding your own cheese from a block rather than buying pre-shredded bags, as it melts much smoother. You can use store-bought jarred sauces to save time or use your favorite homemade recipes.
