Ingredients

  • 0.5 lb filet mignon (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (approx 24g)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp Maggi seasoning
  • 0.5 tbsp honey
  • 0.5 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic (minced, approx 10g)
  • 1 tbsp sambal
  • 2 pack fresh udon noodles
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp regular soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sugar (for the noodles)
  • 4 Chinese broccoli stems (chopped)
  • 0.5 yellow onion (sliced)

Steps

  1. 1

In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced filet mignon with the sugar, oyster sauce, Maggi seasoning, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, and sambal. Mix well and let marinate for at least 10-15 minutes.

  2. 2

Prepare the noodles by loosening them in a bowl of hot water, then drain well.

  3. 3

Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat with a splash of oil. Add the marinated beef and sear quickly until browned and caramelized. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

  4. 4

In the same pan, add the yellow onion and Chinese broccoli stems. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until slightly softened.

  5. 5

Add the udon noodles to the pan along with the dark soy sauce, regular soy sauce, and sugar. Toss everything together over high heat until the noodles are well-coated and heated through.

  6. 6

Return the cooked beef to the pan, toss briefly to combine, and serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure the pan is very hot before adding the beef to achieve a proper sear without overcooking the meat. If you prefer more heat, add extra sambal to taste.
