Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts (trimmed and halved if larger than 1-inch wide)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 shallot (medium, finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar

Steps

  1. 1

Heat an air fryer to 375ºF. Preheating is recommended even if your model doesn't strictly require it to ensure maximum crispiness.

  2. 2

Trim 1 pound Brussels sprouts and halve any that are larger than 1-inch wide to ensure even cooking.

  3. 3

Transfer the sprouts to a medium bowl, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, and toss to combine thoroughly.

  4. 4

Add the Brussels sprouts to the air fryer and arrange into a single layer, ensuring they are not piled up so air can circulate. Air fry in batches if needed.

  5. 5

Air fry for about 15 minutes total, stopping to shake the basket (or rotate the pans in larger air fryers) about halfway through, until browned and tender.

  6. 6

While the sprouts cook, prepare the shallot butter: Finely chop 1 medium shallot.

  7. 7

Place 2 tablespoons unsalted butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl and melt in the microwave. Alternatively, melt in a medium saucepan over low heat, then remove from the heat.

  8. 8

Add the chopped shallots and 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar to the melted butter and stir to combine.

  9. 9

When the Brussels sprouts are ready, transfer them into the bowl or saucepan with the shallot butter and toss to coat.

  10. 10

Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

Storage: Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 days. For the best texture, ensure the sprouts are arranged in a single layer during cooking to prevent steaming.
