Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (Thawed; cut into 6 rectangles)
  • 24 pepperoni slices (About 4 slices per pastry)
  • mozzarella cheese (Freshly shredded, or use 6 small chunks of fresh mozzarella; estimate about 150 g total)
  • pizza sauce (A little sauce for each pastry; estimate about 120 g total)
  • 1 egg (Beaten, for brushing the pastry)
  • pizza seasoning (For sprinkling; use to taste, estimated 2 g)
  • hot honey (For drizzling; estimated 30 g)
  • Parmigiano Reggiano (Freshly grated, for finishing; estimated 18 g)
  • fresh basil leaves (For finishing; estimated 6 g)

Steps

  1. 1

Thaw the puff pastry according to the package directions while keeping it cold enough to handle. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

Unfold the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured work surface if needed. Cut it into 6 evenly sized rectangles.

  3. 3

Arrange about 4 pepperoni slices in six separate portions on the parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between portions. The pepperoni should roughly match the footprint of each pastry rectangle.

  4. 4

Add mozzarella to each pepperoni portion, using either freshly shredded mozzarella or one of the 6 small chunks of fresh mozzarella.

  5. 5

Spoon a little pizza sauce over the mozzarella in each portion. Avoid adding so much sauce that it spreads beyond the pastry and makes sealing difficult.

  6. 6

Place one puff pastry rectangle over each filling portion. Press the pastry edges down firmly around the filling to seal each pocket.

  7. 7

Brush the tops of the sealed pastries with the beaten egg. Sprinkle pizza seasoning over the egg-washed pastry.

  8. 8

Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown, visibly puffed, and cooked through.

  9. 9

Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Carefully flip each pastry so the pepperoni, cheese, and sauce side faces upward.

  10. 10

Drizzle the warm pastries with hot honey. Finish with freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano and fresh basil leaves, then serve warm.

Notes

The source does not specify exact quantities for the mozzarella, pizza sauce, pizza seasoning, hot honey, Parmigiano Reggiano, or basil; those amounts are practical estimates for six pastries. Serve warm for the flakiest pastry and best cheese texture.
