Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • coconut oil (a little bit)
  • 3 cup flour (all-purpose, divided (2.5 cups initially, then 0.5 cup if dough is too sticky))
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • parsley (to taste)
  • 1 tsp garlic and ginger (minced or paste)
  • cooking spray (for the pan)

Steps

  1. 1

In a bowl, combine 1 cup of warm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of yeast, and a little bit of coconut oil.

  2. 2

In a separate large bowl, mix 2.5 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt.

  3. 3

Add the wet yeast mixture into the flour and mix everything together. If the dough feels too sticky, add another 0.5 cup of flour until the desired consistency is reached.

  4. 4

Cover the dough and let it sit in a warm place until it has doubled in size.

  5. 5

Once doubled, place the dough on a floured flat surface. Divide and shape into small balls (boliki), coating them in flour.

  6. 6

Roll each ball out into a flat naan shape.

  7. 7

Prepare the garlic butter by melting 2 tablespoons of butter and mixing it with parsley and 1 teaspoon of ginger and garlic.

  8. 8

Heat a pan over medium heat and apply cooking spray.

  9. 9

Place the naan bread in the pan. When bubbles start to form on the top surface, flip the bread.

  10. 10

Brush the garlic butter mixture onto both sides of the naan while cooking until golden brown and cooked through.

Notes

The author suggests serving this with butter chicken. If the dough is too sticky during the mixing phase, don't be afraid to add the extra half cup of flour mentioned in the transcript.
