Ingredients

  • 400 g cooked chicken breast (roughly chopped or shredded)
  • 1 white onion (finely diced)
  • 500 g tikka masala cooking sauce (jarred)
  • 100 g frozen peas
  • 1 tsp garlic granules (for the filling)
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  • 300 g reduced-fat ready-rolled puff pastry
  • 1 egg (beaten, for brushing the pastry)
  • 30 g light butter (melted, for the garlic butter)
  • 1 tsp garlic granules (for the garlic butter)
  • 1 tsp dried parsley (for the garlic butter)
  • salt (a generous amount, to taste)
  • black pepper (a generous amount, to taste)

Steps

  1. 1

Heat the oven to 180°C fan. Use a medium baking dish.

  2. 2

Add the cooked chicken and finely diced onion to the baking dish.

  3. 3

Pour the tikka masala cooking sauce over the chicken and onion.

  4. 4

Add the peas, 1 teaspoon garlic granules and the optional chilli flakes. Season generously with salt and pepper, then mix well until the chicken is completely coated.

  5. 5

Lay the puff pastry over the filling. The creator likes to arrange it in small squares.

  6. 6

Brush the pastry all over with the beaten egg.

  7. 7

Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and beautifully golden and the filling underneath is piping hot and bubbling.

  8. 8

While the pie bakes, mix the melted light butter with the remaining 1 teaspoon garlic granules and the dried parsley to make the garlic butter.

  9. 9

Brush the garlic butter over the pastry while it is still hot.

  10. 10

    Serve with vegetables.
