Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferably, divided into 4 balls)
- 4 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
- 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 bacon (cooked and finely chopped)
- 2 jalapeño peppers (seeded and finely chopped)
- 4 Turano hamburger buns (Brioche or Gourmet style)
- salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting the buns)
Steps
- 1
In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, and chopped jalapeños until well incorporated.
- 2
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into balls.
- 3
Make an indentation in the center of each beef ball and fill it with a generous portion of the cream cheese mixture. Close the beef around the filling to seal it completely.
- 4
Heat a griddle or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Butter the buns and toast them until golden brown; remove and set aside.
- 5
Place the stuffed beef balls on the hot griddle. Season generously with salt and pepper.
- 6
Use a burger press or a heavy spatula to firmly smash each ball until thin and the edges begin to brown.
- 7
Cook for 2-3 minutes until a dark, crispy crust forms. Carefully flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the cheese filling is hot.
- 8
Place the burgers on the toasted buns and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best results, make sure the beef is very cold before placing it on the hot griddle to achieve that signature smashburger crust.
