Ingredients

  • 1 Pineapple (Peeled and cut into small pieces; reserve the peel.)
  • 2 cup Hibiscus water (Unsweetened or sweetened to taste; used to boil the peel and cinnamon.)
  • Pineapple peel (Well washed; obtained from the pineapple used.)
  • 1 raja Cinnamon (Add to the infusion.)
  • 2 cup Water (For blending the pineapple.)
  • 2 cup Ice (For serving.)
  • 4 cup Water (To adjust the drink and mix at the end.)

Steps

  1. 1

Wash the pineapple very well. Remove the peel and reserve the flesh; cut the flesh into small pieces.

  2. 2

Place the hibiscus water, pineapple peel, and cinnamon stick in a pot. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat for approximately 10 minutes, until the infusion is fragrant.

  3. 3

While the infusion is boiling, place the pineapple pieces in a blender with the water designated for blending. Blend until the mixture is as smooth as possible.

  4. 4

Place enough ice in a pitcher or large container to chill the drink.

  5. 5

Strain the boiled infusion directly into the pitcher with ice to remove the peel and cinnamon. Let it cool for a few minutes.

  6. 6

Add the blended pineapple to the pitcher.

  7. 7

Add the remaining water and mix very well until all the flavors are combined. Taste and, if desired, adjust the amount of water or sweeten to taste.

  8. 8

Serve immediately, well chilled, with additional ice if necessary.

Notes

The original recipe does not provide exact quantities; the amounts listed are estimates for approximately 4 servings. The drink should not be considered a medical treatment for kidney disease. If using prepared hibiscus water, avoid adding sugar or adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
