Ingredients
Steps
Cut the bacon strips into very small pieces.
Place the bacon in a very hot skillet to render all its fat and brown it, stirring occasionally.
While the bacon is browning, finely chop the half onion.
Once the bacon is well-browned, remove it from the skillet but leave the fat in the pan.
Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the bacon fat and cook until it begins to turn translucent.
Stir in the minced garlic clove, the reserved browned bacon, brown sugar, coffee, red pepper flakes, and maple syrup.
Let the mixture reduce over low heat until it thickens and reaches a syrupy consistency.
Remove from heat and let it rest before serving.
Notes
This jam is ideal for burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, or even served over cream cheese as an appetizer. The coffee acts as the 'special touch' to enhance the smoky flavors.
