Ingredients
- 16 oz Shrimp, cleaned and deveined (Thawed; butterflied by cutting a slit down the back and patted dry)
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 2 tbsp Butter
- Garlic (8–10 cloves, minced)
- 1 tsp Chili flakes (Or more, to taste)
- 1.5 tsp Paprika
- Cilantro (2–3 tablespoons, chopped)
- 2 tbsp Water
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Sriracha sauce
- Lemon or lime juice (Optional; squeeze over the shrimp)
Steps
- 1
Thaw the shrimp. Cut a slit down the back of each shrimp to butterfly it, then pat the shrimp dry with a napkin.
- 2
Mince the garlic and chop the cilantro.
- 3
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and butter.
- 4
Turn the heat down. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, taking care not to let it burn.
- 5
Sprinkle in the chili flakes, paprika, and chopped cilantro.
- 6
Mix the seasonings and herbs into the garlic and fat, then add the water to create a sauce.
- 7
Add the shrimp to the skillet and increase the heat to medium.
- 8
Season the shrimp with the salt and mix well.
- 9
Drizzle in the Sriracha sauce. Add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice, if using, and mix gently.
- 10
Cook for another 1–2 minutes, until the shrimp is cooked. Immediately remove the skillet from the heat so the sauce is not cooked away.
- 11
Serve the shrimp as is, or over rice or with pasta.
Notes
The source does not specify an exact shrimp doneness cue or a quantity for the optional lemon or lime juice. A cold beer is suggested as a pairing in the transcript.
