Ingredients
- 250 g 5% beef mince
- 140 g Spaghetti (Uncooked weight)
- 0.5 Red onion (Finely chopped; approximately half a medium onion)
- 80 ml Single cream
- 20 g Honey
- 40 g Tomato purée
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 150 ml Vegetable stock
- 10 g Parmesan (Finely grated)
- 1 tsp Smoked paprika
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Onion powder
- 1 tsp Dried oregano
- 1 tsp Garlic purée
- Chilli flakes (Optional, to taste)
- Salt (To taste)
- Black pepper (To taste)
Steps
- 1
Finely chop the red onion and measure out the remaining ingredients. Bring a large saucepan of salted water to a boil for the spaghetti.
- 2
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve a small cup of the pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
- 3
While the pasta cooks, heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef mince and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned throughout and no longer pink.
- 4
Add the chopped red onion to the browned beef. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion softens.
- 5
Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, garlic purée, and optional chilli flakes. Stir for about 30 seconds, until fragrant and the beef is evenly coated.
- 6
Stir in the tomato purée and cook for 1 minute to deepen its flavor.
- 7
Add the honey, Worcestershire sauce, and vegetable stock. Stir well, scraping any browned bits from the pan, and simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- 8
Pour in the single cream and stir until fully combined. Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes; do not let the sauce boil vigorously.
- 9
Add the drained spaghetti to the pan and toss thoroughly in the beef sauce. If the sauce is too thick, loosen it with a splash of the reserved pasta water.
- 10
Taste and season with salt and black pepper. Divide between two bowls, sprinkle with the grated Parmesan, and serve hot.
