Ingredients
- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.75 cup water
- 3 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil (Use either avocado oil or olive oil.)
- 0.5 tsp salt
Steps
- 1
Combine the flour, water, oil, and salt in a mixing bowl. Stir until the ingredients come together into a rough dough.
- 2
Transfer the rough dough to a lightly floured work surface.
- 3
Knead the dough by hand for 2–3 minutes, until it becomes smooth and is no longer sticky. If needed, use only a light dusting of flour to prevent sticking.
- 4
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then roll it out into a thin circle.
- 5
Heat a dry pan or skillet over medium heat. The pan should be hot before the first tortilla is added.
- 6
Place one tortilla in the heated skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes, until golden-brown spots form on the underside.
- 7
Flip the tortilla and cook the second side for 1–2 minutes, until golden-brown spots form. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
Notes
The recipe states that the tortillas can be made in under 15 minutes. Keep cooked tortillas covered with a clean kitchen towel while finishing the batch to help them stay soft.
