Ingredients
- 2 Chicken breast (boneless, skinless)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 0.5 cup Flour (for dredging)
- 1 Egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 0.25 cup Honey
- 2 tbsp Hot sauce (such as Frank's RedHot or Sriracha)
- 0.5 tsp Red pepper flakes
- 2 Brioche buns (toasted)
- Pickles (sliced, for topping)
- 0.5 cup Coleslaw (optional topping)
Steps
- 1
Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika on both sides.
- 2
Prepare a dredging station with three bowls: one with flour, one with the beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- 3
Dredge each chicken breast first in the flour, then dip into the egg wash, and finally coat thoroughly with the panko breadcrumbs, pressing down to ensure they stick.
- 4
Place the breaded chicken in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with oil to help with browning.
- 5
Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- 6
While the chicken is cooking, prepare the hot honey sauce by whisking together the honey, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
- 7
Once the chicken is done, remove it from the air fryer and immediately brush or drizzle the hot honey sauce over both sides of the hot chicken.
- 8
Assemble the sandwiches by placing the hot honey chicken on toasted brioche buns and topping with pickles and coleslaw if desired.
Notes
For extra spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour dredge. Ensure the chicken pieces are of even thickness for uniform cooking.
