Ingredients

  • 2 cans Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls (Use the cinnamon rolls and frosting included in each can; Pillsbury Grands are recommended for the best texture and size.)
  • 1.1875 cup Heavy whipping cream (Divided: use 1 cup in the bottom of the baking dish and 3 tbsp in the butter-brown sugar sauce.)
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (Melted with the brown sugar.)
  • 1 cup Brown sugar (Melted with the butter until glossy and smooth.)
  • 2 containers Cinnamon roll frosting (Use the frosting packets or tubs provided with the cinnamon rolls.)
  • 1 tsp Cooking spray (Estimated amount needed to coat the 9x13-inch baking dish.)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

Lightly coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

  3. 3

Pour 1 cup of the heavy whipping cream evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

  4. 4

Separate the cinnamon rolls and arrange them in a single layer on top of the cream.

  5. 5

Place the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Melt the butter, stirring, and let the mixture bubble gently until glossy and well combined.

  6. 6

Stir the remaining 3 tablespoons of heavy cream into the melted butter and brown sugar. Continue stirring until the sauce is smooth.

  7. 7

Pour the warm butter-brown sugar sauce evenly over the cinnamon rolls.

  8. 8

Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the tops are golden and most of the cream and sauce has been absorbed. Some liquid may remain in the bottom; this is normal.

  9. 9

Spread the frosting included with the cinnamon rolls over the warm baked rolls.

  10. 10

Serve warm, spooning any remaining liquid from the baking dish over the rolls just before eating.

Notes

These rolls can be prepared ahead of time. For best results, use Pillsbury Grands or another large canned cinnamon roll. Do not substitute milk for the heavy cream, as lower-fat liquids may make the rolls soggy rather than fluffy. If doubling the recipe, use two baking dishes. Any remaining pan sauce is delicious spooned over the iced rolls.
