Ingredients
- 1 Whole chicken (Butterflied; size not specified)
- 2 tbsp Olive oil (The author uses chili-infused olive oil)
- 1 Lemon zest (From 1 lemon)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper
- 1.5 tsp Smoked paprika (Amount to taste within the indicated range)
- 1.5 tsp Garlic powder
Steps
- 1
Place the chicken breast-side down. Using kitchen shears, cut along both sides of the backbone and remove it.
- 2
Turn the chicken over, position the legs outward, and press firmly on the breastbone until it breaks and the chicken lies flat.
- 3
Rub the olive oil all over the chicken.
- 4
Mix the salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and lemon zest.
- 5
Generously distribute the seasoning mixture over both sides of the chicken.
- 6
Cook it in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 35–40 minutes, or until the thickest part of the breast reaches 165°F (74°C). The cooking time will depend on the size of the chicken.
- 7
Alternatively, roast it at 425°F (220°C) for 30–35 minutes, until crisp and fully cooked. If the oven runs too hot, reduce the temperature to 400°F (205°C).
- 8
Let the chicken rest for 5–10 minutes before cutting it into portions and serving.
Notes
The size of the chicken is not specified; the nutritional quantities and estimated weight for the chicken are based on a whole chicken weighing approximately 1.5 kg. The oven alternative is optional. The transcript mentions 10 minutes of preparation time.
