Ingredients
- 1.333 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 0.5 cup salted butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 0.25 cup sour cream
- 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
- 1.5 cup ripe bananas, mashed (about 3 medium ripe bananas)
- 0.75 cup walnuts, chopped
- 0.75 cup chocolate chips (additional chocolate chips for sprinkling on top, if desired (amount not specified))
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9 × 5-inch loaf pan, line the bottom with parchment paper, then lightly grease the pan again.
- 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cinnamon. Set the dry mixture aside.
- 3
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the room-temperature butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 4–5 minutes.
- 4
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Scrape down the bowl as needed.
- 5
Add the sour cream and vanilla extract and mix to incorporate.
- 6
With the mixer off, add the mashed bananas. Mix on medium speed until fully incorporated. The batter may look curdled at this stage.
- 7
With the mixer off, add the dry ingredients. Mix on low speed just until combined; do not overmix.
- 8
Fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips.
- 9
Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle additional chocolate chips over the top if desired.
- 10
Bake for 65–70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- 11
Cool the bread in the pan for 15 minutes, then remove it and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
The optional additional chocolate chips for the topping have no specified quantity. The source does not state storage instructions.
