Ingredients
- 4 eggs (whole)
- 1 cup sugar (240 ml cup)
- 0.5 cup chocolate powder 50% cocoa (240 ml cup)
- 180 ml oil (vegetable oil)
- 200 ml hot coffee (unsweetened (can be sweetened if preferred))
- 1.5 cup all-purpose flour (240 ml cup)
- salt (a pinch)
- baking soda (a tiny bit to darken the cake)
- 1 tbsp baking powder (tablespoon)
- 1 can condensed milk (395g)
- 4 tbsp 100% cocoa powder (tablespoons)
- 2 box heavy cream (200g boxes each)
- 200 ml whole milk (a bit more if necessary to adjust the consistency)
- chocolate chips (to taste)
- 1 tbsp butter (tablespoon)
Steps
- 1
In a blender or bowl, add the 4 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup 50% cocoa chocolate powder, 180 ml oil, and 200 ml hot coffee.
- 2
Blend all liquid ingredients well for about 2 to 3 minutes until smooth.
- 3
Add 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt, and a little baking soda.
- 4
Lastly, add 1 tbsp baking powder and blend quickly just to combine.
- 5
Grease a pan with non-stick spray or butter and flour.
- 6
Transfer the batter to the pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for approximately 35 minutes.
- 7
While the cake bakes, prepare the sauce: in a saucepan, mix the condensed milk with the 4 tbsp of 100% cocoa powder until well dissolved.
- 8
Add the 2 boxes of heavy cream, 200 ml whole milk, chocolate chips to taste, and 1 tbsp butter.
- 9
Place over heat and stir until it begins to boil. Turn off immediately to maintain a fluid consistency.
- 10
If the sauce thickens too much as it cools, add a little more milk to reach a liquid sauce consistency.
- 11
Once the cake has cooled, cut it into squares and loosen them slightly in the pan or transfer to a serving dish.
- 12
Pour the still-warm sauce over the cake pieces so it penetrates well.
Notes
The coffee serves to enhance the chocolate flavor and does not leave the cake with a strong coffee taste. The sauce should remain fluid, similar to a thick hot chocolate.
