Ingredients
- 2.5 ripe plantains (Nendran bananas; use 2–3, peeled and sliced lengthwise)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp rice flour
- 1.5 tbsp sugar (The source gives 1–2 tablespoons)
- 1 egg white
- turmeric powder (A pinch)
- salt (A pinch)
- water (As needed to make a thick batter)
- cooking oil (As needed for frying)
Steps
- 1
Peel the ripe plantains and cut them lengthwise into slices. Set the slices aside.
- 2
In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, rice flour, sugar, turmeric powder, and salt.
- 3
Add the egg white, then add water as needed and mix until a thick batter forms.
- 4
Dip the plantain slices into the batter one at a time, coating them thoroughly.
- 5
Place the coated plantain slices one at a time into hot cooking oil.
- 6
Fry over medium heat until golden on both sides.
- 7
Remove the fried plantain slices from the oil and serve hot.
Notes
The source does not specify the amount of water, frying oil, or the exact frying time. Adjust the water gradually so the batter remains thick enough to coat the plantain slices.
