Oven-baked tofu nuggets coated in a homemade maple-barbecue marinade with a sweet, savory, and smoky flavor. Tearing the tofu rather than chopping it creates extra texture and surface area for crisping.

Weights are estimates. Together, the ingredients weigh about 535 g before cooking, which is about 105 g per serving.
Steps
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220 °C) (220°C (425 °F)). Prepare a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. Alternatively, place a clean sheet pan in the oven to preheat and bake the tofu nuggets directly on the hot pan.
Tear the tofu into bite-sized pieces rather than chopping it. Pat the pieces dry with a clean towel.
Add the maple syrup, soy sauce, olive oil, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, garlic powder, fine sea salt, and black pepper to a large bowl. Mix until the marinade is fully combined.
Add the tofu pieces to the bowl and toss until every piece is completely coated with the marinade.
Arrange the coated tofu bites on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake at 425°F (220 °C) (220°C (425 °F)) for 20 minutes.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and flip the tofu pieces so both sides can crisp evenly.
Return the tofu to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes, or until the nuggets are golden and crispy.
Notes
The nuggets are not especially saucy. For a saucier result, double the sauce ingredients and brush additional sauce on at the halfway point and again at the end. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about one week. Reheat in an oven or air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for about 5–10 minutes. The source also suggests halving the recipe and air-frying at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, shaking the basket and flipping the pieces halfway through.
