Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 0.5 cup tomato sauce (can use up to 3/4 cup)
  • lasagna noodles (uncooked, shaped to fit the baking dish and enough for 3 layers)
  • 0.33 cup low fat ricotta cheese
  • 0.25 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp parmesan cheese
  • garlic powder (to liking)
  • Italian seasonings (to liking)
  • salt and pepper (to liking)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

To a small baking dish (approximately 5.5 by 4.5 inches), coat the bottom of the dish with a portion of the tomato sauce and olive oil.

  3. 3

Layer the lasagna by adding a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles, followed by more sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, and seasonings to your liking.

  4. 4

Repeat the layering process until you have 3 layers of noodles and toppings.

  5. 5

Cover the dish tightly with tin foil or parchment paper.

  6. 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the noodles are tender and cooked through.

  7. 7

Remove the cover and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the top layer of cheese is golden and bubbly.

  8. 8

Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

The author suggests using a Staub 5.5 by 4.5 inch baking dish. Because the noodles are uncooked, ensure the dish is covered tightly during the first stage of baking to trap steam.
