  • 125 ml Milk (for optional soak)
  • 15 g Unsweetened cocoa powder (for optional soak)
  • 30 g Sugar (for optional soak)

Steps

  1. 1

Prepare three 8-inch cake pans by lining their bottoms with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Bake the cakes in the prepared pans in a conventional oven at 175°C for 25–30 minutes.

  3. 3

For the optional soak, combine the milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salted butter in a small pot.

  4. 4

Stir the soak over medium heat until everything is combined and there are no lumps.

  5. 5

Transfer the soak to a bowl or jug and cover it. Let it cool, then refrigerate until using.

  6. 6

Give it a whack and enjoy!
