Ingredients
- 300 g Chicken breast (Whole or already minced; if whole, mince it.)
- 150 g Spinach (Fresh or frozen; if fresh, blanch and drain; if frozen, thaw completely.)
- Salt (To taste.)
- Black pepper (To taste; white or pink pepper can be used instead.)
- Spices (To taste; the author uses garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley.)
- Garlic powder (Example of a spice; quantity to taste.)
- Onion powder (Example of a spice; quantity to taste.)
- Parsley (Example of a spice; quantity to taste.)
- Breadcrumbs (Add gradually until the mixture is easy to handle.)
- 1 Egg
- Oil (A drizzle, for cooking the burgers in the pan.)
Steps
- 1
If using whole chicken breast, mince it in a food processor and set it aside in a bowl. You can also use chicken breast that is already minced.
- 2
If using frozen spinach, let it thaw completely. If using fresh spinach, heat a pot of plenty of water; before it comes to a boil, add the spinach and cook until it wilts.
- 3
Drain the fresh spinach well and transfer it to a large bowl. Snip it into small pieces with scissors so it combines more easily with the meat.
- 4
Add the minced chicken, salt, black pepper, and chosen spices to the bowl. The author uses garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley.
- 5
Add the egg and mix everything with a fork until evenly combined.
- 6
Gradually add the breadcrumbs, mixing after each addition, until the mixture is easy to handle.
- 7
Divide the mixture into four roughly equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, then flatten it to form a burger patty.
- 8
If you want to save them for later, you can freeze them uncooked only if the chicken had not previously been frozen. If the chicken was frozen, cook the patties first and freeze them once cooked. Thaw the patties completely before cooking.
- 9
Heat a nonstick pan over medium heat and add a drizzle of oil.
- 10
Place the patties in the pan and cook over medium heat so they cook through both inside and out. Once browned on one side, flip them and brown the other side.
- 11
Serve the burgers with potatoes, salad, or in burger buns with toppings of your choice.
Notes
The time stated by the source (25 minutes) refers to preparation time; no cooking time is specified. The cooking time is an estimate. The amount of breadcrumbs and oil is not specified; add as needed.
