Ingredients
- 0.5 cup lime juice (Freshly squeezed, approximately 3-4 limes.)
- 2 latas evaporated milk (Cans of approximately 360 ml each; well chilled to make whipping easier.)
- 1 lata sweetened condensed milk (Standard-size can.)
- 1 paquete Maria cookies (The weight may vary depending on the brand; reserve some for decorating if desired.)
- vanilla (To taste.)
Steps
- 1
Squeeze the limes until you have ½ cup (120 ml) of juice. Strain it to remove seeds and excess pulp.
- 2
Place the chilled evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, lime juice, and vanilla in a blender.
- 3
Blend for 1-2 minutes, until completely smooth, creamy, and slightly thickened. Taste and adjust the vanilla to taste.
- 4
Cover the bottom of a baking dish with a layer of Maria cookies, breaking them as necessary so there are no large gaps.
- 5
Pour a layer of the lime cream over the cookies and spread it evenly with a spatula or the back of a spoon.
- 6
Repeat the layers of cookies and cream until the ingredients are used up, making sure to finish with a layer of cream.
- 7
Crush some Maria cookies and sprinkle them over the surface as decoration, if desired.
- 8
Cover the baking dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours; for a firmer texture and better flavor, leave it overnight. Serve well chilled.
Notes
The publication does not specify the size of the cans or the weight of the cookie package; standard-size versions were used as a reference. Keep the charlotte refrigerated and consume it within 3-4 days.
