Ingredients

  • 1 Bread bowl (Round sourdough or Italian loaf, hollowed out)
  • 6 oz Lobster meat (Freshly cooked claw and knuckle meat, chopped into large chunks)
  • 1.5 cup Lobster bisque (Creamy, smooth lobster-based soup)
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter (Melted, for drizzling)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh chives (Finely chopped for garnish)
  • Old Bay seasoning (A pinch for dusting)

Steps

  1. 1

Prepare the bread bowl by slicing off the top and carefully hollowing out the center, leaving a 1-inch thick wall to prevent leaking.

  2. 2

Toast the bread bowl in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-7 minutes until the interior is slightly crisp and firm.

  3. 3

In a small saucepan, gently heat the lobster bisque over medium-low heat until steaming, being careful not to let it boil.

  4. 4

In a separate pan, lightly warm the lobster meat in a tablespoon of butter just until heated through.

  5. 5

Place a layer of warm lobster meat at the bottom of the toasted bread bowl.

  6. 6

Pour the hot lobster bisque over the lobster meat until the bread bowl is nearly full.

  7. 7

Top the bisque with the remaining chunks of lobster meat, piling them high in the center.

  8. 8

Drizzle the melted butter over the exposed lobster meat and the edges of the bread.

  9. 9

Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh chives and a light dusting of Old Bay seasoning before serving immediately.

Notes

This dish is a signature item at Ford's Black & Blue in Noank, CT. For the best results, use a high-quality, heavy-cream-based bisque that is thick enough to be held by the bread without soaking through too quickly.
