Ingredients

  • 700 g watermelon flesh (May be replaced with pineapple, honeydew melon, or rockmelon)
  • 200 g chilled water
  • 40 g fresh lime juice
  • 20 g sweetener of choice (Optional; use up to 40 g. Start with the minimum amount, or omit if the fruit is sufficiently sweet. A light-colored sweetener is recommended.)

Steps

  1. 1

Start with the minimum amount of sweetener. The fruit may be sweet enough that no sweetener is needed; additional sweetener can be added after blending to taste.

  2. 2

Thermo Cooker method: Add the watermelon flesh, chilled water, fresh lime juice, and sweetener to the mixer bowl. Blend for 30 seconds at speed 9 with the measuring cap on.

  3. 3

Slowly pour the blended mixture through a sieve into a large container or jug, occasionally discarding the pulp to help the liquid pass through.

  4. 4

Serve as is over ice, or top up with extra water, sparkling water, or alcohol of choice.

  5. 5

Conventional blender method: Start with the minimum amount of sweetener. The fruit may be sweet enough that no sweetener is needed; additional sweetener can be added after blending to taste.

  6. 6

Add the watermelon flesh, chilled water, fresh lime juice, and sweetener to a blender. Blend until smooth.

  7. 7

Slowly pour the blended mixture through a sieve into a large container or jug, occasionally discarding the pulp to help the liquid pass through.

  8. 8

Serve as is over ice, or top up with extra water, sparkling water, or alcohol of choice.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and stir before serving. For a low-carb variation, use equal parts cucumber and water and add a compliant sweetener to taste. Mint or basil may be added, and the drink can be used as a mixer with alcohol.
