Ingredients
- 1 lb frozen edamame in pods
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 0.5 tsp lemon zest (finely grated)
- 2 tbsp furikake (mixture of nori, sesame, and bonito flakes)
Steps
- 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- 2
Add the edamame pods to the boiling water and cook according to the package directions, usually about 3 to 5 minutes, until tender but still bright green.
- 3
Drain the edamame thoroughly in a colander; it is important that they are well-drained so the seasoning sticks, but still hot.
- 4
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, soy sauce, and lemon zest.
- 5
Add the hot, drained edamame to the bowl and toss well to coat each pod thoroughly with the butter mixture.
- 6
Sprinkle the furikake over the edamame and toss once more to distribute the seasoning evenly. Serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure the edamame is as dry as possible before tossing with the butter to prevent the furikake from becoming soggy. You can find furikake in the Asian aisle of most grocery stores or at Japanese markets.
