Ingredients

  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided for dough and frying)
  • 2 garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (finely chopped)

Steps

  1. 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. 2

Gradually add the warm water and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the dry ingredients.

  3. 3

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.

  4. 4

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each into a flat circle, about 1/4 inch thick.

  5. 5

In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, chopped parsley, and the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to create the garlic topping.

  6. 6

Heat a large skillet or pan over medium heat. Lightly grease if necessary.

  7. 7

Place a dough circle in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form and the bottom is golden brown.

  8. 8

Flip the bread and cook the other side for another 2 minutes.

  9. 9

While the bread is still hot, brush the top generously with the garlic and herb oil mixture.

  10. 10

Repeat with the remaining dough portions and serve warm.

Notes

For a more traditional focaccia flavor, you can add dried rosemary to the dough. Ensure the pan is not too hot to prevent the garlic from burning when applied to the hot bread.
