Ingredients
- 4 bacon (cut into small pieces)
- 0.5 cup popcorn kernels (Orville Redenbacher type or similar)
- salt (to taste (optional, bacon is already salty))
Steps
- 1
Place the bacon pieces in a large skillet or a pot with a lid over medium heat.
- 2
Cook the bacon until it is very crispy and has released all its fat.
- 3
Remove the crispy bacon pieces from the skillet and set them aside on paper towels, leaving all the liquid fat in the bottom of the pot.
- 4
Add the popcorn kernels to the pot with the hot bacon grease and stir to coat each kernel well.
- 5
Cover the pot and wait for the corn to start popping. Shake the pot occasionally to prevent burning.
- 6
Once the popping slows to an interval of 2 to 3 seconds, remove the pot from the heat.
- 7
Pour the popcorn into a large bowl and sprinkle the reserved crispy bacon pieces over the top before serving.
Notes
For an extra touch of flavor, some users suggest adding a bit of brown sugar at the end for a sweet-and-salty profile. Ensure the bacon is well-cooked so the fat has the best smoky flavor.
