Ingredients
- 300 g Chicken breast (cut into thin strips)
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 tbsp Shawarma seasoning (or a mix of cumin, paprika, garlic powder, and coriander)
- Salt (to taste)
- 0.5 cup Plain Greek yogurt (low-fat)
- 1 Garlic clove (finely minced)
- 1 tsp Lemon juice
- 1 cup White or red cabbage (finely shredded)
- 1 Carrot (grated)
- 2 Whole wheat pita bread
Steps
- 1
In a medium bowl, season the chicken breast strips with olive oil, shawarma seasoning, and salt to taste. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated.
- 2
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
- 3
While the chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing the Greek yogurt, minced garlic, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Set aside.
- 4
Prepare the salad by mixing the shredded cabbage and grated carrot in a bowl.
- 5
Lightly warm the whole wheat pita breads. Cut them in half to form a pocket or use them as a base for a wrap.
- 6
Fill each pita bread with a generous portion of the cabbage and carrot mixture, add the cooked chicken, and finish with a spoonful of the yogurt sauce.
Notes
You can add tomato or cucumber slices for extra freshness. If you prefer a spicy touch, add a pinch of chili flakes to the yogurt sauce.
